Welcome to Scotts Brewing Co., proudly pouring at the heart of Ōamaru’s Harbour Precinct.
Overlooking Friendly Bay, our sunny deck and beer garden are made for kicking back with a cold one and soaking up that southern sunshine.
Our story started in 2007 — not in a fancy brewery, but in a West Auckland shed. Back then, we were pioneers in gluten-free brewing, tinkering away with passion and a love for great beer. Fast-forward a few years, and that small shed has become an industrious brewery in Ōamaru’s old railway goods shed — a perfect blend of heritage and innovation.
We craft our beers using local grain, South Island hops, and pure Alpine water, creating brews that are full of flavour and proudly southern — made purely for your enjoyment.
Our first release in Ōamaru, Scotts Nineteen 05 Golden Ale, marked the return of commercial brewing to the area after more than a century — and the start of something special.
We’re still independently owned and operated, and we stay true to our roots by crafting quality beer in a sustainable, hands-on way.
Alongside our ever-changing range of Scotts craft beers, you’ll find gourmet pizzas, top New Zealand wines, local spirits, and plenty of good company.
Eighteen years on, Scotts Brewing Co. has become more than just a brewery — it’s the local, the live music hub of Ōamaru, and a welcoming space for everyone. Locals drop by to unwind, visitors come for a taste of southern hospitality, and families spread out in the beer garden while the kids play nearby. Even the dogs feel at home here in our beer garden.
